The Malt House
The Malt House at The White Hart
Self catered Accommodation for four in the heart of Padstow
The Malt House is a self-contained cottage accessed from The White Hart's private walled garden. Although just a few yards from the centre of Padstow, the hustle and bustle of the harbour is left behind the moment you step from New Street, through the garden gate and into the peaceful garden.
The Malt House is on two levels: The ground floor has one double bedroom and bathroom, whilst up one flight of stairs, and under the vaulted roof, is the kitchen, sitting & dining area and a further king-size bedroom and bathroom. Although the building is hundreds of years old, it is happily up to date with modern amenities. Centrally heated with control via a Hive thermostat, constant hot water, WiFi Broadband throughout and a large TV in the living room and a further smaller TV in the ground floor bedroom. In this old building, there are areas of restricted headroom, especially in the upstairs bedroom.
The kitchen is well equipped for a stay of a week or so: Fridge/freezer, dishwasher, hob/oven, microwave, and sufficient cupboards, well stocked with pots, pans, kitchen utensils, crockery, cutlery and glassware. There are so many restaurants and cafes in the town, you may find yourself simply boiling the kettle in the morning or opening a bottle of wine later in the day, and leaving the cooking to someone else!
In the bedrooms there is a choice of an Emma memory foam mattress (upstairs) or a traditional sprung mattress (downstairs). The downstairs bedroom and bathroom is completely independent from the living area above. This arrangement works well for families or for two couples to enjoy their own space. The beds are dressed in fine White Company linen, bath sheets and hand towels are provided in the bathrooms, whilst the kitchen gets its own freshly laundered set of tea towels and oven gloves.
Benefiting from the sun in the early morning until the late afternoon in the summer, the garden is a quiet, sunny spot to read or eat & drink alfresco. When the weather is not so kind, the peaceful conservatory is a great alternative, with comfortable upholstered chairs, a selection of books (please feel free to leave a book you have finished and take another from the shelves) and a television.
